Shopify FAQs
For custom Shopify, the cost varies from $15,000 to $50,000+. A simple store with custom theme development begins at $15,000 to $20,000, while more complex builds with integrations, subscription services, and custom functionality can cost $30,000 to $50,000 or more. We’d be more than happy to provide more specific quotes once we know more about your requirements, as every project is unique in its own way. Feel free to reach out to us if these prices seem unattainable for now; we’d be more than happy to guide you in the right direction.
For custom Shopify, the average build time from kick-off to launch is 8-12 weeks. Simpler builds might take 6 weeks, while more complex builds with integrations, custom apps, and migration complexity may take 3-4 months. We provide realistic timelines, not the overly ambitious timelines some agencies promise and fail to deliver on.
Shopify Plus is the enterprise version of Shopify, starting at $2,000/month compared to the $39-399/month plans for regular Shopify. The main advantages are better wholesale/B2B functionality, automation, more API calls, the ability to edit the checkout, and better support for high-volume sales. If you are doing less than $1M/year in revenue, regular Shopify is probably good enough for you.
If you’re just starting out and need to test the market, a theme with some customizations is perfect for you. We recommend working with a professional developer or agency if your brand requires a unique look, if you need certain features not available via apps, if you want your website to run faster than a theme, or if you want a professional-grade website, which is difficult to do with themes out of the box.
Yes, we have experience moving websites from a variety of different systems, including custom systems, WooCommerce, Magento, and BigCommerce to Shopify and Shopify Plus. We move your website, your products, your customers, your order history, your URL structure for SEO, and your website’s design and functionality to Shopify. The amount of time it takes depends on the amount of data you have and how complex your current system is. Most website migrations take between 10 to 16 weeks. We make sure everything works and your SEO isn’t damaged in the process. (Just to note, your SEO might dip for a bit before it improves, but it’s a temporary side effect of a migration.)
Yes, most clients require ongoing support and maintenance for updates, issues, and improvements. We don’t offer retainers unless specifically requested by a client. Most of our clients purchase our development hour packages and use them over time as they need help with certain aspects of their website they cannot create themselves.
We integrate whatever apps your business needs, whether it’s email marketing tools like Klaviyo or Mailchimp, subscriptions like Recharge or Seal, reviews, inventory management, accounting, etc. Sometimes, we’ll even tell you not to get an app if there’s a better one available or if it’ll slow down your site. We’ll set up integrations correctly, so they work well together instead of causing issues, which they will if you install them randomly.
Yes, we can definitely help with that. We can work on optimizing your existing Shopify website for speed, conversions, and user experience. This could involve things like fixing code issues, optimizing images, fixing functionality issues, or improving the overall user experience.
While we can work with both, we are also very open and honest with our clients. We can work with you if you are a startup or an established business. The thing is that if you are a startup and you don’t yet have that product-market fit and you are low on funds, it is probably not the best use of your funds to spend $20k on a high-end website. Start with a theme and build custom work once you have validated your business.

WordPress is better when you want more control and flexibility. Sometimes it is better to have something more than just an online store. The difference is that WordPress.com is a hosted solution, similar to Squarespace. It has limited customization options, monthly fees, and is maintained by WordPress. On the other hand, WordPress.org is an open-source platform that you can install on your own server. It is free, and you have full control. When we design websites, we use WordPress.org because it is more flexible. We can make it look however we want. Don’t buy a WordPress.com plan expecting to get a custom site.
Yes. Slow WordPress sites usually have issues that can be fixed. We identify what is wrong with the site and then fix it. The cost varies from $1,000 to $8,000 depending on how bad it is.
WordPress is a secure platform. The reason many users get hacked is because they have old plugins installed, use weak passwords, use cheap hosting, and fail to update their site. Our team uses best practices for security from the outset. This includes limiting login attempts, user permission levels, quality hosting, and regular updates. As long as the user maintains the site properly, they will not get hacked. Most “WordPress got hacked” stories come from users who have not updated their site in years.
We believe page builders like Elementor (and Divi, WPBakery) can be a good idea if used properly. Page builders allow users to drag and drop elements into a website. However, they can also cause problems due to the amount of code they add to a site. Our team uses best practices for building a website from the outset. This ensures a clean code base, fast page loads, and exactly what is needed and nothing more.
Yes, our team builds custom plugins for WordPress users who need custom functionality not provided by a plugin. This is usually the case for users who need something that is not provided by a plugin or a third-party API integration. Custom development starts around $4,000 and goes up from there. Our team only builds custom plugins or functionality for users who cannot find a solid plugin to solve their problem.
Good WordPress hosting costs between $20 to $100 per month depending on your traffic. Don’t bother with cheap shared hosting options like Bluehost’s $5/month option. You’ll just lose more money trying to fix all the problems. We recommend good WordPress hosting services like Kinsta. Yes, it makes a difference. Bad hosting can ruin even a great website. We can help with that.
Yes. We can migrate your site from other platforms like Squarespace, Wix, Joomla, Drupal, and custom sites to WordPress. The more messy your current site is, the longer it’ll take. The timeline for a migration project is 8-14 weeks. We’ll move all your content, ensure all custom features work properly, and ensure nothing important gets left behind.
